Sarai, Abram's Wife
8" X 10" acrylic painting of Sarai, Abram's wife. She was barren until the age of ninety; at seventy-six, she tried to bring to fulfillment the Lord God's promise to Abraham that he would be the father of "a multitude of nations" [Genesis 17:3] by having Abraham beget Ishmael on Hagar her handmaid; after God changed her name Sarai to Sarah and Abram's to Abraham, by His power, Sarah, at ninety, conceived Isaac by Abraham, who was then 100 years old; Sarah dies at one hundred twenty-seven.
The simplest way to clean up an oil or acrylic painting on canvas is to use a white cotton cloth soaked in a gentle soapy water; olive oil–based soap works wonders. You’ll be surprised to see how much grime comes off. Be gentle with paintings with thick impasto, as you do not want to break hardened paint. You might want to use Q-tips and work gently in crevasses.
